The Special Investigations Unit has found there are no grounds to charge a pair of Halton police officers in connection to the death of a man in Burlington last December.
On December 23rd, Halton Police dispatched its Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team to an apartment building near Plains Road East and Francis Road.
Upon arrival, officers expressed concerned about a potential threat to other tenants and the man himself and determined the need to enter the unit.
Once they gained entry from the superintendent, officers found the man standing on the balcony. He then straddled the railing and jumped.
Officers attempted CPR but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SIU says the officers were acting within their duties and neither of their actions contributed to the man’s death.
