A recent trend of promoting from within continues within Hamilton Police.
Dan Kinsella has been named the service’s newest deputy chief, joining Ken Weatherill as second-in-command to Chief Eric Girt.
Kinsella, who has been with the service for three decades, most recently as superintendent says he is committed to “succession planning”.
As superintendent, police board chair Lloyd Ferguson notes that Kinsella was a key member of the team that investigated the murder of Tim Bosma.
Kinsella was also in charge of Hamilton’s security preparations for the 2015 Pan Am Games.
