After rejecting a developer’s plan to build a 26-storey condo tower across from the lakefront, Burlington City Council will be handing over the final decision to the Ontario Municipal Board.
Adi Development Group has appealed to the OMB to build a 240-unit at the corner of Lakeshore Road and Martha Street, after revising its plan last year from 28 storeys.
However, the city has refused to make the zoning amendments that would allow the desired height and density.
Burlington’s official plan allows for a maximum of just eight storeys.
For its part, Adi points out that flies in the face of a 22-storey luxury condo complex and hotel that is already being built just across the street on the lakeshore.
An OMB pre-hearing is scheduled for October 27th with a full hearing set for February 21st.
