Over the last week, a lot of friends and co-workers have asked me if I think the Blue Jays can make it to the World Series.
My answer, there is no way the Blue Jays are not going to the Fall Classic.
Well, that’s unless they don’t show up in the ALCS against Cleveland.
Listen, I know the Indians swept the mighty Red Sox 3-0 in the ALDS and I realize the Tribe won 4 of their 7 meetings against Toronto during the regular season.
All of that, however, is in the past.
The here and now favours the Jays, and here’s why.
Winning the wild card game against Baltimore propelled Toronto into post-season mode and carried them to a sweep of the Texas Rangers in their ALDS.
The Jays also have something the Indians don’t… a bad taste in their mouth.
Toronto lost to Kansas City in last year’s ALCS and the bulk of the players who played in that disappointing series are still on the Jays’ roster.
Cleveland has a darn good team, they don’t give up, and have a World Series winning manager in Terry Francona.
But being on the cusp of the Fall Classic last year, and knowing what it takes to reach that next level, in my opinion, gives the Jays a big edge.
Toronto wins this series in 5 games.
