A listener question about a shared forensic building with Niagara has been put to Hamilton Police Chief Eric Girt during his monthly Town Hall meeting on CHML.
Girt says a joint facility was considered, but for a number of reasons, he says, it wasn’t going to work.
Grit says one problem would be which crimes get priority.
He says the Investigative Services building will be home, not only to forensics, but also the Child Abuse, Sexual Assault and Crimes Against Seniors units and so part of the design will be to make victims feel less intimidated.
Construction is slated to begin next year with completion set for 2019.
