Things appear to be going from bad to worse in Tiger Town.
Mired in a three game losing streak… without injured star players like Zach Collaros and Luke Tasker… the Tiger-Cats received another dose of bad news Wednesday.
Just days before their big rematch against the East Division leading Ottawa Redblacks, Hamilton’s Brandon Banks has been suspended by the CFL after he tested positive for a drug closely related to ecstasy.
The 2015 Special Teams Player of the Year will sit out the next two games and says he takes responsibility for his “mistake.”
There were two comments that I heard Wednesday that I thought were very interesting.
One coming from “Speedy,” who said he found out about the positive test two weeks ago but offered no answers as to why the league waited until now to enact the discipline.
What if Banks scored a game winning TD last week to beat Ottawa?
The Redblacks would have been crying foul, and rightfully so.
The other eyebrow raising comment came from Ticats linebacker Simoni Lawrence, who says the CFLPA has to do a better job of educating its players on what drugs are on the banned substance list.
I can’t imagine anything close to ecstasy being allowed.
I’m sorry, but the players should take some ownership and read the list.
It’s their career, their reputation that’s on the line.
