The City of Burlington and a developer are heading to the Ontario Municipal Board.
City Council made it official on Monday morning voting to reject Adi Development Group’s revised proposal to build a 26-storey condo on Martha Street near Lakeshore Road.
The latest proposal reduces the height of the proposed tower from 28 storeys to 26, but it also increases the number of units.
Mayor Rick Goldring notes that the properties in question are zoned for up to eight storeys.
He adds that council supports the staff position that the proposal represents “over-development and too much density”.
Goldring also notes that “if we approve that particular project, in my view we would only be opening the door for more projects like that”.
An OMB pre-hearing is scheduled for later this week, followed by a full hearing in February.
