A plane crash in the Dominican Republic that had a local charity worker on board has now become a recovery mission.
Benjamin Brown Cole went missing last week after a small plane crashed off the north coast of the island nation.
The 36 year old with the Hamilton based charity, Live Different, was managing programs in the Dominican and had lived abroad for nearly a decade.
The plane took off from Port-au-Prince on Monday and was headed to the coastal town of Puerto Plata and apparently lost contact with the control tower shortly after 6 p.m. when it was about six kilometres from the town.
The Dominican air force says it has located wreckage from the plane.
