It looks as though a couple of Burlington high schools are on the chopping block as the Halton District School Board undergoes a Program Accommodation Review.
Director of Education, Stuart Miller says declining enrollment has prompted the review and a staff recommendation proposes various boundary and program changes as well as the closure of Lester B. Pearson High School and Burlington Central High School.
Miller adds that the recommendation isn’t a final decision, but a starting point for consultation.
The PAR process will begin in November with information sessions held at each Burlington high school.
The evening meetings will take place November 1st, 3rd, 14th and 15th.
On November 21 at 7 p.m., board staff will also join Miller for a live online Q&A at www.hdsb.ca.
There are five other schools involved in the review; Aldershot, Dr. Frank J. Hayden, M.M. Robinson, Nelson and Robert Bateman.
The Board of Trustees will make their decision in May 2017; however Miller says the earliest date that any changes could take place is September 2018.
