A fundraising event at Hamilton’s John Foote Armouries has raised 400 thousand dollars to support soldiers and their families.
Captain Tim Fletcher of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry notes that close to 300 people gathered for this week’s “Operation Yellow Ribbon” gala.
Fletcher adds that it sends the important message to soldiers and veterans, letting them know that “their service has not been forgotten”.
Money raised through the gala supports a range of programs, such as wounded soldier rehabilitation and to run summer camps for the children of slain soldiers.
“Operation Yellow Ribbon” is supported by a number of corporate sponsors, and is the brainchild of Pioneer Energy CEO Tim Hogarth.
