Burlington’s Sound of Music Festival has been named Ontario’s Tourism Event of the Year.
The award has been presented by the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario.
Sound of Music began in 1980 and was originally created to salute the Burlington Teen Tour Band.
It has grown to a free, nine day, live music event in June that generates 11.7-million dollars in economic activity.
Festival executive director Dave Miller says the honour “is made possible by the incredible dedication of our volunteers, the continued support of our fans and the generosity of our sponsors and partners.”
