There’s a growing push for Bay Street to be included as an LRT stop in downtown Hamilton.
The push is coming from the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.
The Hamilton Spectator reports the Chamber has made the formal request in a letter to the city’s light rail transit stakeholder committee.
The letter argues the Bay Street stop would alleviate pressure on the busy downtown intersection of transit, which will include north-south riders on the A-line as well as the B-line.
LRT project director, Paul Johnson, says he’s willing to look at adding the Bay Street stop.
But he points out it’s very close to the James Street location and too many stops go against the philosophy of rapid transit.
