USports CEO Graham Brown says today’s Vanier Cup matchup between Calgary and Laval will be an exciting one.
But Brown admits he is “very disappointed” with the expected crowd of 10,000 for the game at Tim Hortons Field.
Brown calls Hamilton “a great football community” and adds “we need to become much more sophisticated in our marketing.”
He also acknowledges that having two non-Ontario teams in the title game is “an awkward sell,” but adds they have 370 days to promote next year’s football final in Hamilton and he is confident they will “fill” the stadium in 2017.
Earlier today, Burlington MPP and Minister of Sport Eleanor McMahon announced a 100-thousand dollar investment in the Vanier Cup.
The announcement at Tim Hortons Field will help with the promotion and staging of the Canadian university football championship.
