A Hamilton father has lost his latest court battle.
Steve Tourloukis wants to be allowed to pull his children out of class when they learn what he calls “false teachings” that go against his Greek Orthodox religion.
“Telling children that homosexuality is normal, is not factual”, Tourloukis tells CHML.
But Superior Court Justice Robert Reid has turned down the request.
The Spectator reports Justice Reid ruled inclusion and equality comes before “individual religious accommodations in public education.”
“Religious freedom is dead in schools,” Tourloukis says. “Why should Muslim girls who wear the hijab be accommodated?”
Hamilton Public School Board chair Todd White has said it would be impossible to remove students from class when parents believe the subject matter is objectionable.
