A ceremony has been held for Ottawa area MPP Nathalie Des Rosier, but 19-year-old Sam Oosterhoff was not at Queen’s Park yesterday.
Progressive Conservative Leader Patrick Brown says Oosterhoff is making arrangements to have a large gathering when he takes the oath of office.
The delay means that the socially conservative MPP will not be able to vote on Bill 28, legislation intended to make it easier for gay and lesbian couples to have children.
The Hamilton Spectator says the home-schooled, social conservative teen took the nomination thanks to the backing of members of his strict reform church.
Oosterhoff has shared his views opposing homosexuality on social media; some of which have been deleted since his campaign commenced.
