Money Talks...City Council Should Listen
Posted 3/12/2010 6:18:00 AM
Like many Hamiltonians, I’m getting pretty tired of all the crap surrounding the site for the new stadium.
Now, we hear that a group of local businessmen have decided to do what City Council should have done right from the start; decide which site presents the best business case for the City and the private investors.
The fact that these guys don’t want to invest a nickel in the West Harbour site should come as no surprise.
These people didn’t get wealthy by being stupid.
They won’t invest any money into a site that doesn’t give them what they need; high visibility, and the opportunity to use the stadium numerous times throughout the year for football, soccer and numerous concerts and special events.

Government Waste

$1,948 for two plants
$1,000 for a door bell
$1,000 to remove and reconnect a light switch
And $5,266 to install six pot lights
Mike Holmes doesn’t even make that kind of money when he does home renos, but some Ottawa bureaucrat signed off ...
Board Of Education Cop Out

Hamilton Board of Education’s decision to delay the debate on possible high school closings until after this year’s municipal election is a classic case of an elected body shirking their responsibility.
At least some of the Board members were candid about it. They said they didn’t want such a controversial issue to be an election issue this fall.
They say that the ‘new’ Board will tackle the issue next year.
Let’s cut through the rhetoric here and deal with the facts.
First of all, there is very little , if any turnover in Board of Education elections, so the ‘new’ Board , is the same Board that’s sitting there now.
What they’re afraid of, is that the school closing issue will anger enough voters that maybe a few Board members will get turfed out in the election.
So, they’re asking the voters to return them all to office and then, ...
