Chatting with Lumsden

Posted 5/17/2011 3:53:00 PM
I wouldn't go so far as to call it a sad day but it certainly is one that leaves a bitter taste in the mouth of football fans in the area.

Jesse Lumsden has announced that he is retiring from football to focus on becoming a driver for Canada's bobsled team at the 2014 Olympics.

A lot of us around the Hammer can remember watching him rip apart teams at Les Prince Field and I think even the most pessimistic of people wanted to see him do the same to the CFL.

Unfortunately a string of bad breaks cut that short but we did see some glimpses of that potential as a Tiger-Cat.

After finishing 5th at the 2010 games here's hoping he is on the podium in Russia!

In-depth look at concussions in football

Posted 5/5/2011 4:47:00 PM

This week the CFL and a number of other folks announced a plan to address concussion awareness and research.

I know it seems like every sports league is talking about concussions, and I know when people keep talking about one thing we have a tendency to tune out the message.

Don't do that.

If you have a kid that plays football, are a kid that plays, or maybe you played years ago pay attention to the message.

My conversations with CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon, Dr. Charles Tator, and Football Canada's Rick Sowieta are all here for you to soak up as much as you can.

Here are some useful links

Tomorrow the MMA world will unleash the best it has on Toronto and the guy in the centre of it all is Georges St-Pierre.

GSP has been the driving force of this event and if you listen to Dana White he is the biggest athlete Canada has ever seen.

Tomorrow he puts his belt on the line against Jake Shields put today I got a chance to talk to the champ.
