Warmest March day EVER!

Posted 3/23/2012 6:46:00 AM

What's the best way to cap off five consecutive record-breaking days on the thermometer?

Shoot down one more record.

A reading of 26.8 degrees out at Hamilton International at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon is officially the hottest day in March ever!

Well, dating back to at least 1959 when proper record keeping began.

Prior to Wednesday's high of 25.6 degrees, the all-time March high was 25 degrees straight up -- from back in 1998.

The party's over today, however, as we'll struggle to get into the mid-teens.

No complaining though -- exactly a year ago today, a storm dumped 17.4 cm of snow on the city.

Record January heat!

Posted 1/18/2012 5:50:00 AM

Yesterday is now officially the warmest January 17th on record.

The thermometer hit 10.3 degrees at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon at Hamilton International Airport.

That breaks the old record of 9.9 from back in 1990.

Of course, it all came to an abrupt end with the passage of a cold front.

Temperatures plummeted 10 degrees in just 2 hours last night.
