    Stanley Cup parade in Toronto

    Toronto hasn't had a Stanley Cup parade in 43 years, but it will today. Each Stanley Cup winner gets a chance to spend the day with the hockey holy grail, so Blackhawks star Dave Bolland is bringing it home to Mimico. The parade starts at 1 p.m. at Royal York Rd. and Mimico Ave., will travel along to Mimico Square where people will be able to get pictures and autographs between 2 p.m.-4 p.m.

    Deadly Crash on Highway 400

    One man is dead after a horrific accident on Highway 400 near Highway 88. OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford tells AM640 News a minor accident occurred in he southbound lanes, sometime around 11:15pm, Thursday night. Following that collision, the two drivers got out of their cars to exchange information; that is when one of them was hit by another southbound car. The force of the impact was apparently so strong, the man was thrown into the northbound lanes, where he was again hit by yet another car.   All lanes have been closed down for the investigation, from Highway 9 to Highway 88. The closure is expected to last until about 6:00am, Friday morning.

    Hyatt Workers Striking for 24 Hours

    Workers at downtown's Hyatt hotel are staging a 24 hour strike to protest hourly cuts for employees and job security. Picket lines are expected to be up by 7:30am and a rally is planned for in-front of the hotel later Friday afternoon at 5:00pm.The hotel, located at King and Peter Streets, is one of the key locations for the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival. Local 75 officials want to get their message across but do not want to disrupt the large event.

    A Mississauga man is fighting for his life after being hit by a transit bus at Dundas and Winston Churchill.  The intersection is closed for the investigation.

    Toronto Man Killed Before Fire
    Toronto comedian Jason Farro's body was found in a burned out St. Thomas home days ago, but police now say he was dead before the fire.  An autopsy found blunt force trauma was the cause of death. Farro was part of the Four Horseman improv group, and was also a finalist in Yuk Yuk's Comedian Idol.  He leaves behind 4 children. No word yet on any suspects.

    G20 Arrest in Montreal
    Montreal police have arrested and charged a 28-year-old man in relation to damage done during the G20 summit in Toronto.  Toronto police say Juan Lepore of Montreal has been charged with mischief over $5,000.  Members of the G20 investigative team were en route to Montreal on Thursday afternoon to return Lepore to Toronto. The G20 investigative team is still seeking any photographs and video that members of the public may have recorded of criminal acts committed during the G20. More than 220 people face charges arising from violence during protests during the summit protests.

Fiera on College Street  Saturday September 4 to Monday September 6  College Street will be closed from Shaw Street to Bathurst Street from 9 a.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Monday.   Italian Walk of Fame  Monday September 6  College Street will be closed from Clinton Street to Grace Street from 11a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday.   Brazilian Day Monday September 6  Yonge Street will be closed from Dundas Street to Queen Street from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday.

    Man In Late 40s Charged With Internet Luring

    A Toronto man is facing a luring charge after a young person was contacted by someone through the internet and text messaging. An undercover operation was launched and the accused, who used the email address of firerangerca@yahoo.com and user names “firerangerca” and “jmcbride”, was arrested.  48 year old John Thomas McBride has also been charged with invitation to sexual touching.

    Smitherman: Create More Jobs For Youth In Toronto

    George Smitherman is doing his best to woo younger voters. On Thursday, the mayoral hopeful announced if he's elected, he'll focus on creating more jobs for the youth in this city. But the initiative would carry a hefty price tag for local business. Smitherman wants to hike their property taxes by $10 million in a bid to fund the jobs-for-youth-program. Revenues would be used to pay employers a subsidy of up to 20-percent of the minimum wage for any additional workers they hire under the age of 25.

    Wanted Toronto Man Arrested In 2009 Murder

    A Toronto man wanted in a fatal shooting is scheduled to appear in a Newmarket courtroom Thursrday. 21 year old Bryan Valentine Gardner was arrested in London yesterday on a first-degree murder warrant. He was wanted on the shooting death of a 26 year old man back in February of 2009; Chun Kit (Daniel) Cheong of Toronto was shot in the head at the Pacific Mall.
