The McMaster men's basketball team has introduced its 2010 recruits.
Three of the four newcomers are local hoopsters.
They are Taylor Black and Satar Wahidi from Stoney Creek, Kyle Giedraitis of Dundas and Keith Omoerah from Winnipeg.
Black hails from Orchard Park Secondary School where he was selected to represent the school as part of the Olympic torch relay last December.
Black is a three time city champion and recently placed fourth at this year's OFSAA 'AAA' championship.
An honour role student, he will study Kinesiology.

The OUA has has released a new football schedule, in response to the University of Waterloo suspending its football program this season.
Each team will face each other once during the regular season, with four home and four away games.
The original eight-week regular season schedule has been expanded to nine weeks, with opening day slated for Wednesday, Sept. 1.
Schools will have choice to begin training camps on Friday, Aug. 20 or Saturday Aug. 21, with medicals for student-athletes taking place the day before.

Amos Connolly has been named the new coach of the McMaster Marauders men's basketball team.
He's coached for the past fifteen years in Hamilton, including seven years as an assistant coach at McMaster where he helped guide both the women's and men's teams to provincial OUA championships.
He's a McMaster graduate and is the director of the Basketball Academy in the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board.

McMaster rugby players Tyler Ardron and Ryan Fried are representing Canada at the Under-20 Junior World Rugby Trophy tournament in Moscow.
Canada is in Pool B and will play against Zimbabwe, Japan and the host Russians in the preliminary round.
The Canadians open the tourney at 10am our time today against Zimbabwe.
The winner of the competition will qualify for promotion to the World Junior Championships being held in Italy in 2011.
Fried is one of six returning players from last year’s U20 squad at the World Junior Championship in Japan, finishing in 14th.

No change to OUA football this year.
There was talk that the top eight teams would make the playoffs, with no bye for the top two teams.
At the OUA annual meeting today, that proposal was voted down.
So, as in the past, the top six teams will make the playoffs and the top two get a first-round bye.

McMaster has announced its Football Team of the Decade for the years 2000-2009.
The 30 players named to the Team of the Decade include three Hec Crighton Award winners, and 15 that went on to careers in the Canadian Football League.
Mac's gridiron greats were honoured at the Thirteenth Annual Football Gala Dinner and Reception that took place at the David Braley Athletic Centre Thursday night.
The three previous Hec Crighton award recipients that were honoured as the Outstanding Player in CIS football are: running back Kojo Aidoo (2000), quarterback Ben Chapdelaine (2001) and running back Jesse Lumsden (2004).

McMaster is looking for a new head men's basketball coach.
CHML News has learned that Joe Raso and the university parted ways today.
Raso told CHML News, the school wants to go in another direction.
Raso will return to his full-time job at St. Mary's Secondary in Hamilton.
Raso was the head coach at Mac for eighteen years and had a won-lost record of 193-88.
He guided the Marauders to three OUA championships, 12 national finals and 4 championship games.

McMaster has named former Ticats receiver Rocky DiPietro the 2010 High School Coach of the Year.
The Canadian Football Hall of Famer has coached with Lakeshore Catholic in Port Colborne since 1997, serving as the head coach for the last 3 years.
The Coach of the Year award will be presented at the 13th Annual McMaster Football Gala Dinner on April 29.
In addition to honouring the 2010 High School Coach of the Year, the Gala Dinner will recognize the McMaster Team of the Decade, from 2000-2009.

Another example of the Mac football program giving back to the community.
The second annual Pass and Cover Camp will be held this Saturday at Ron Joyce Stadium.
The camp is geared toward both offensive and defensive players and it focuses exclusively on the passing game.
Each player will get two on-field sessions, a classroom film session, lunch, a pair of tickets to a Mac home game and coaching from Tiger-Cat Dave Stala, former Marauder and current Toronto Argo Mike Bradwell, as well as Mac players and coaches.

Three McMaster Marauders will represent Mac at this year's CIS East West Bowl.
Running back Joey Nemet and defensive linemen Steve Cecchini and Roberto Filice will play in the game on May 8 in London.
The East West Bowl showcases CIS players who will be eligible for the 2011 Canadian Football League draft.
Nemet rushed for 612 yards and one touchdown last season.
Cecchini was an OUA second team All-Star last season. He had 31 tackles and one sack.
Filice had 13 solo tackles, four assisted tackles and two sacks in the seven games he played last season.
