The Vanier Cup champion McMaster Marauders handed out their team awards on Saturday night.
The most improved defensive player was defensive back Steve Ventresca.
The most improved offensive player was receiver Robert Babic.
Linebacker Nick Shorthill was named the defensive rookie of the year while running back Chris Pezzetta was selected the offensive rookie of the year.
The most outstanding defensive lineman was Roberto Felice, while on the other side of the ball, Matt Sewell was named outstanding offensive lineman.
The special teams player of the year was kicker Tyler Crapigna, receiver Mike DiCroce and quarterback Kyle Quinlan ...

The CFL Scouting Bureau has released its top 15 prospects heading into the evaluation camp.Ben Heenan an offensive lineman from saskatchewan is the top ranked player.McMasters Jason Medieros is ranked tenth.The 6-foot-4, 315-pound, offensive lineman has played three years with the marauders.The CFL Evaluation Camp is set for early March....The Draft goes May 8th.The Ticats will pick third in the draft.

It's Marauder weekend at McMaster.
This is the 25th anniversary of the winter homecoming event.
The 2012 Marauder Weekend starts Friday night with men's and women's volleyball teams taking on RMC at the Burridge Gym, starting at 6 pm.
Saturday, the men's and women's basketball teams play against Windsor, starting at noon.
Also Saturday, an Alumni Reception will be held at 4 pm.
And on Sunday, it all caps off with the Marauder-Scholars Brunch.

McMaster men's basketball coach Amos Connolly has announced his first recruiting commitment for 2012.
Cambridge native Jason Quiring confirmed with Connolly last week that he will be a member of the Marauders.
He signed his CIS letter of intent on Saturday.
Quiring is a 6-foot-6 post, who is attending Jacob Hespeler Secondary School in Cambridge.
His Hespeler Hawks team is one of the favourites from the WCSSAA (Waterloo County) region to qualify for the OFSAA AAA tournament in March.

Three members of the Vanier Cup Champion McMaster Marauders will be well represented at the 2012 CFL evaluation camp.
Invited to participate are quarterback Kyle Quinlan, receiver Brad Fochesato, and offensive guard Jason Medeiros.
Quinlan was the 2011 OUA first-team all-star quarterback and was named a second-team All-Canadian. He capped off a tremendous year by being named the game MVP at each stage of McMaster’s post-season run, including the Yates Cup, Uteck Bowl, and Vanier Cup victories.
Medeiros was named a first-team OUA all-star and second-team All-Canadian in 2011.

McMaster Marauders head coach Stefan Ptaszek has agreed to a new multi-year deal.
The Marauders finished the 2011 regular season with a 7-1 record.
They beat Queens 40-13 in the OUA semifinals.
Then, they steamrolled their way through the Yates Cup with a 41-19 win over the favoured Western Mustangs for the school's first Yates Cup victory since 2003, and followed that with a win on the east coast in the Uteck Bowl over the Acadia Axemen.

The McMaster Marauders have advanced to the Vanier Cup for the first time since 1967, after beating Acadia Axemen 45-21 in the Uteck Bowl, played at the University of Moncton Stadium.
The Marauders fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter, before the offence got untracked.
Mac scored 31 unanswered points to take a 31-14 half-time lead.
They got on the scoreboard with a 12 yard Matt Peressini run, then tied the game on an 8 yard pass from Kyle Quinlan to Robert Babic.

The number 4 ranked Mac Marauders meet number 9 Acadia Axemen in the Uteck Bowl Friday night in Moncton. The Marauders are coming off back-to-back dominating wins in the OUA playoffs, 40-13 over No. 8 Queen's in the semis and 41-19 on the road against No. 3 Western in the 104th Yates Cup final. Kyle Quinlan threw for four touchdowns, including a record-setting strike to OUA player of the year Michael DiCroce, to lead the fourth-ranked Marauders to a convincing 41-19 road win over No. 3 and defending champion Western in the 104th Yates Cup final at TD Waterhouse Stadium.
It marked the first OUA title for McMaster since a streak of four consecutive championships from 2000 to 2003, while Western was looking for a fourth crown in five years.

It's the Mac Marauders against the Western Mustangs in the 104th Yates Cup this Saturday.
Western beat Mac 48-21 back in week two, with sensational freshman running back Tyler Varga rushing 25 times for 149 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Since that loss, Mac won six in a row on the regular season, and won the OUA semi-final, beating Queens 40-13.
Western finished atop the OUA standings, with a 7-1 record, and beat Windsor 33-27 in the other OUA semi-final.
