Province comes through for Mohawk College
    Jay McQueen
    5/29/2009

The province has announced 20 million dollars in funding for Mohawk College.

Hamilton Mountain MPP Sophia Aggelonitis says the money will help Mohawk expand enrolment and applied research at its Fennell Campus -- by providing more opportunities for students to train as highly skilled technicians and technologists in engineering technology, health sciences, human services and digital communications.

President Rob MacIsaac says the college is growing so the money will go toward a new building and to renovate the existing facility.

He adds the funding will afford students more places and spaces to collaborate and help creativity flourish.

When asked if he was disappointed with the lack of federal contribution, MacIsaac said 'yes'.
