Convention Centre Evacuated Due To Gas Leak
    Ken Mann
    11/24/2009

The Hamilton Convention Centre was evacuated, just as city politicians were wrapping up their meeting on Tuesday afternoon.

Construction crews working on the new city transit terminal on MacNab Street hit a natural gas main at about 4 o'clock.

The evacuation lasted just a short time before the leak was capped and fire officials gave the all-clear.

Construction of the new terminal, which will include shelters, new platforms and washrooms, started last month.  The project will be completed next summer.
