Halton Regional Police have wrapped up their investigation into the death of Katherine Newman.
The 43-year-old Oakville woman was found stabbed to death inside her home back in January.
The same day, her estranged husband Kyle was shot and killed by police in the parking lot of the police station on Oak Walk Drive -- a move the SIU later determined was justified because the officers were under threat of serious harm or death.
Police say evidence collected at the scene of both incidents as well as from Kyle's car has led them to conclude that he in fact was the one who stabbed Katherine.
Deputy Chief Bob Percy says he hopes the completion of the investigation will bring a measure of closure to the families involved.
