Fort Erie Speedway dealt one more challenge
Ken Mann
11/21/2012

A citizen's group is hoping to place one more speed bump in the path of Fort Erie's motor speedway project.

The group, known as the Preservation of Agricultural Lands Society, is seeking to appeal the Ontario Municipal Board's recent decision to dismiss all appeals against the 400 million dollar development.

Among other things --- the massive project calls for a one mile oval and grandstand with seating for up to 65 thousand people as well as 2.5 mile road course.

The O-M-B's decision has been seen as good news for a town left reeling by the loss of its full-service hospital, a wind-turbine tower manufacturing plant which employed 300 people and the loss of slots at Fort Erie Racetrack which also threatens to end horse racing in the community.

There is a 30 day window for appeals of the OMB's decision.
