An attempt to scam a Hamilton senior out of 22 thousand dollars has been narrowly averted.
Police say it started last month --- when the 88 year old recieved a letter indicating that she'd won 1.5 million dollars.
She responded to the phone number provided and was directed to send money to an address in Surrey, B.C. to cover insurance and other "incidental" costs.
After not recieving her winnings by the arranged date, the woman told a family member what had happened and the scam was in turn reported to Hamilton Police.
Canada Post was then contacted, the package intercepted from a truck in British Columbia and the money returned to the local senior.
28 year old Mohamed Moseray of Richmond B.C. has since been arrested after showing up at a post office to retrieve the package.
