Details are few but the Hamilton Police Homicide Unit is investigating the death of an infant.
Police were contacted on the morning of December.24th by staff at the McMaster University Medical Centre regarding the death of a six year old baby boy.
The infant had been brought into the emergency ward the night before in medical distress.
An autopsy has found injuries that are "not consistent with a natural death".
According to Hamilton Police policy, all sudden deaths involving children under five years old are investigated by the homicide unit.
