Seven months after the province brought in legislation to help stop homophobic bullying, the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic School board has not set up any gay straight alliances.
Instead, Catholic School Board Chairman Pat Daly says they've brought in something called "Respecting Difference" groups.
Daly says it is a more inclusive approach to stop bullying and calls it unique and proactive.
That is not the way local gay and lesbian activist Deidre Pike sees it.
She estimates about ten to 12 per cent of the student population is homosexual, bisexual or transgendered and they would still feel left out.
Pike says the plan leaves those students without the specific support needed.
