As many as 50 criminal cases have now been dropped by federal Crown attorneys because of charges being laid against two Hamilton police officers.
The officers were charged in November with fabricating evidence and perjury.
A court source has told the Hamilton Spectator, charges in roughly 50 federal cases have been stayed over the past two months.
There are concerns defence attorneys could question the officers credibility if they testify.
The federal department that oversees the prosecution of federal criminal cases has confirmed that some of its prosecutions have been affected.
It says it's in the process of assessing exactly how many.
Federal cases include those involving drugs, organized crime and human trafficking.
