An air monitoring pilot project is underway in Hamilton's east end.
Over the next year, public health services will monitor levels of five pollutants that are most strongly linked to negative health impacts ---within Sam Manson Park in the area of Queenston and Nash Roads.
The city's Matthew Lawson says the project is a response to concerns from area residents about the impact of the Red Hill Valley Parkway.
After one year, data collected will be presented to the Board of Health.
The five pollutants to be monitored are ground level ozone, fine particulate matter, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide.
A public meeting to discuss the project is slated for tonight in the community room at Fortinos on Centennial Parkway North, starting at 6:30.
