Another downtown development may soon be in the works.
Owners of the former Royal Connaught Hotel are reportedly meeting with city staff about converting the building into condos.
Reports say Ted Valeri and Rudi Spallacci are in pre-consultation meetings but it's not clear if they've begun the development application process.
But once they do, Hamilton's Director of Economic Development tells The Spectator it should move along quickly because they'll only need a site plan application as all of the proper zoning is already in place.
The once-grand hotel was rumoured to be among several sites being considered for a downtown casino.
