Hamilton's police services board will be looking at a revised budget request when it meets on Monday.
Chief Glenn DeCaire has knocked his 2013 request down to about 141 million dollars, representing a 3.9% increase over last year.
It will be the chief's third try at gaining approval for the budget which started with an increase of 5.25% and was later chopped to 4.75%.
The agenda for Monday's meeting shows that in cutting the request to 3.9%, DeCaire still proposes hiring 20 new officers.

Savings would come from delaying equipment purchases, taking more money out of existing reserves and increasing revenues.
