Chief to ask for 3.9% budget increase
Hamilton Spectator
1/21/2013

Hamilton Police Chief Glenn De Caire is going to ask for a 3.9 per cent budget increase.

The request is to be put before the Hamilton Police Services Board tonight.

The original request is for a 5 and a quarter per cent hike.

The revised budget does not cut any staff and still includes hiring 20 new officers and one new civilian this year.

These new hires will be phased in.

The bulk of the savings have been found by increasing revenue estimates due to fee changes and bringing the total money taken from reserves to 750 thousand dollars.

How about we stop suspending our officers with pay and use that $$ rather than allow them to live the high life without actually working for the money. I am so disgusted by this whole idea that they need a 3.9% increase and yet the tax payers are paying officers who have been suspended from work with pay! So ridiculous!
