Hamilton Fire crews were kept on their toes today as they responded to three working fires within an hour span.
The first fire broke out just after 11 o'clock this morning in the basement of a house on West 4th. The flames were quickly extinguished with damage estimated at $90, 000. The cause is thought to be electrical; the Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.
A call for the second fire came in about 20 minutes later on Murray Street. Crews were met with a well involved fire on the first floor, luckily the occupants had managed to escape. One firefighter was taken to hospital for treatment of burns. That fire was determined to be caused by careless use of smokers materials. Damage is pegged at $125, 000.
The third fire broke out in the kitchen of a single family home just before noon on MacNab Street North. Damage to the house was minor and estimated at $500.
