The ribbon has been cut on Hamilton's newest recreation centre.
Westmount is the last in a series of projects to be completed in the city, with infrastructure stimulus funding support from the federal and provincial governments.
Ward 8 Councillor Terry Whitehead notes that completion of the 21 million dollar facility comes about four years after the walls started caving in on the west mountain's former rec-centre.
The federal and provincial governments combined to invest about nine million dollars in the project, with the city paying the 12 million dollar balance.
The facility features a lap pool, gymnasium, youth zone, senior's space, three multi-purpose rooms, a meeting room and a fitness and dance studio.
