There's a seat to fill on the Hamilton Police Services Board.
Jim Kay has handed in his resignation as a citizen appointee, effective immediately, citing personal reasons.
The former fire chief was one of five members who helped Chief Glenn DeCaire gain the police services board's approval for his 2013 budget request earlier this week.
The 141 million dollar police budget, which calls for a 3.9% funding increase and the hiring of 20 new officers, may face a rougher ride when presented to City Council next month.
