Hamilton's Mayor has offered some words in support of the city workforce.
Bob Bratina touched briefly on the issue of 30 or so public works employees who are under investigation, stressing that they represent a minute percentage of the municipal workforce.
He stresses that they represent about .02 percent of city workers, reminding taxpayers that "there is so much great work that goes on, on your behalf".
A city investigation into allegations of wrongdoing, which include using city vehicles for personal use and selling asphalt from the back of city vehicles, is to be wrapped up by Monday.
The affected workers have been off the job with pay for more than a week.
