HHS making cuts to save $25-million
Hamilton Spectator
1/24/2013

Job cuts are coming to Hamilton Health Sciences.

CEO Murray Martin says they're looking at chopping another 25-million dollars from the budget in order to hit a zero per cent increase.

He says all programs have been asked to find 2 per cent in savings, but he admits that won't be enough to balance the budget by April 1st, which is the start of the new fiscal year.

Martin says some of the job cuts will be at the upper levels but it will be a few weeks before details are released.

The Vice President of Communications has already left.

He had a salary of more than 220-thousand dollars.

Good thinking. The system is clogged with to many chiefs and not enough Indians, so to speak. What we need is to have people who produce, gets the jobs down. Do not cut on the cleaning personals. I am not in knowledge of that it is now contracted out or not, but the main thing in anything is the cleanliness of premises. We now days have much illnesses due to the lack of proper hygiene. The importance of the work that goes into the maintenance of proper hygiene in resent years have been downgraded. Our society now days think only computers. We still have to do the basic tasks and most are still done on the old fashioned ways , that is with the use of elbow grease.
