Hamilton politicians are pleased after receiving budget requests from a range of boards and agencies that the city is required to fund.
The Hamilton Public Library, Hamilton Conservation Authority, Niagara Conservation Authority and Hamilton Waterfront Trust are all holding the line on funding requests for 2013 after being asked to keep their increases as close to zero as possible.
Stoney Creek Councillor Maria Pearson is among those thankful that their pleas were heard noting that "any efforts to reduce costs are certainly appreciated"
On Friday, the city will hear requests from organizations that it's not required to fund such as the Festival of Friends, Hamilton Art Gallery, Royal Botanical Gardens, Theatre Aquarius and Hamilton Beach Rescue.
The controversial Hamilton Police Service request, currently for a funding increase of 3.9%, is not being heard as part of this week's process.
