Dundas is transitioning to a one high school town.
Parkside students will be able to take some specialized courses offered at Higland starting in the fall.
This is happening even though the province didn't come through with cash for a new Highland Secondary School.
Parkside is still earmarked for closure in the summer of 2014.
Hamilton public school board trustee Jessica Brennan says she is optimistic that Highland will get significant improvements in time for the Parkside closure.
Brennan says the recent announcment of provincial funding for a new super school in the north end and improvements to others should free up some of the board's own money for use on renovations to Highland.
