A high-profile murder trial, which started as a missing person investigation seven years ago, has begun at Hamilton's John Sopinka Courthouse.
A jury of eight women and four men will decide if Jeremy Hall is guilty of killing Billy Mason in 2006.
A large number of Mason's family and friends were in court for Friday's proceedings and heard prosecutors argue that he was killed as payback for information that was thought to have been passed to Hell's Angels.
In presenting its case, the Crown is expected to call a witness claiming to have seen the accused commit the murder and burn Mason's body.
Hall nodded in agreement as the jury was reminded that a guilty verdict must be "beyond a reasonable doubt".
The trial is expected to last five weeks.
