The Hamilton Public School Board is set to launch a new anti-bullying initiative.
Six schools will begin a pilot program on February 27 that uses a texting app to anonymously report bullying and other unsafe incidents.
The so-called "TipOff" service will be available on iPhones and Android smartphones.
Superintendent Pam Reinholdt says the board expects the program "will result in safer schools when students can share tips without the fear of reprisal, judgment or discovery."
The six schools in the pilot project are Glendale, Saltfleet District, Sir Winston Churchill, Waterdown District and Westdale high schools, as well as Cardinal Heights Elementary School.
