Contractors say no to WSIB
Rick Zamperin
2/12/2013

Dozens of local contractors hit the streets of downtown Hamilton Tuesday to protest against Bill 119.

The legislation, which took affect at the beginning of the year, makes WSIB coverage mandatory for certain categories of workers in the construction industry, even if they have private insurance.

Some of the 50 or so protestors at the corner of King and Bay say the legislation is a cash grab and will not only kill thousands of jobs, it will add fuel to Ontario's underground economy.

Government officials say the WSIB offers a better service that the private insurance system.

When one gets hurt no matter what insurance one have it is hard to get compensated.
I nearly lost my leg 34 yrs. ago it was a nightmare what the so called Workers Compensations put me through then. Visible and perfectly understandable when some ones foot are nailed together to the leg that is how I was, and they say that
I was 10 % disabled. I did own my business then and paid into the compensations and lost my business due to the accident that was so terrible and happened on the job.
I just fell of the little step stool to stock the shelf, but the leg cut in between the
grades and snapped it open, and tore all the foot away from t he leg.
Took me over 2. yrs. just to try to keep the leg from the infections to the point that
I was not afraid that it has to come down. But, even today I am not able to do
all that I should. I can not walk even distance on a large parking lot. I can not dance. I can not run. MY weight bearing on the left leg is only 10 lb. if I do more
then I am off my leg for days.. I can not walk on dangerous or uneven surfaces
or ramps for that. Never I am totally free on the winter. I must keep in mind if I ever
break this leg again, they can not fix it. I was told. The bone grow over the pins,
and screws and then it would shatter like glass in bits, and it would be impossible to clean that out . Also, I , am allergic to pencil which is a best antibiotic.
So, they put me through hell. And took away my self esteem. At-least with
a private company one can have a legal representative. WSIB bring unnecessarily anxieties and it degrade those who have a legal right to collect.
They are brainwashed to the point, that for them every is lying. Even if some one is declared dead they still want a blood test and witnesses, and photos.
ALL THINGS ADMINISTERED BY THE GOVERNMENTS DOES NOT WORK. THEY EMPLOY TO MANY PEOPLE, AND THEY THEM SELF THE GOVERNMENT S MAKE LAWS FOR THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO COLLECT. LOOK AT OUR HEALTH CARE.
REALLY IS MORE LIKE A HELL CARE. WE ARE PAYING FOR IT THROUGH THE INCOME TAXES, IT IS BUILT INTO THE MARGIN. I DO HAVE A PAIN FOR 34 YR. OF HOW I WAS TREATED. IT WAS A TIME OF MY LIFE THAT WAS THE MOST DIFFICULT , WHEN THE LEAST i WAS ABLE TO DEAL WITH IT. T HAT IS WHAT THEY WANTED FOR ME TO GIVE UP, BUT THEN WHAT? I THEN WAS 40 YR.. OLD
NOW I AM 75 AND HAVE TO LIVE ON THAT LITTLE BIT OF MONEY THAT THEY GAVE ME IS ABOUT 500. DOLL. A MONTHS. SO DOWN WITH THE WISB.!!!!!!!!!

Nothing but another tax or fee to hurt business people, nothing but a money grab. This insurance isn,t better than private insurance. Will this insurance give you 24 hour coverage will it give you a 85% return of premium for no claims ?That is what i have now with Canada life at half the cost of WSIB
