Hamilton politicians are dipping into the Natural Areas Acquisition Fund.
They are investing another 100 thousand dollars towards the Hamilton Conservation Authority's creation of a Cootes-to-Escarpment Eco-Park.
The added funds are in addition to 250 thousand dollars that was approved last year.
Councillor Brian McHattie says it will be used to purchase 52 acres in what is known locally as the Pleasantview area of Dundas and will connect the Niagara Escarpment on the north with the Cootes Paradise/RBG lands on the south.
McHattie calls it an important connecting area between two of Canada's most significant natural areas.
