A 50 year old Stoney Creek woman has been killed, and a Hamilton mother and her baby critically injured, as a result of a collision on the New York State Thruway near Albany.

New York State Police say the three were travelling in a minivan early Friday morning when it was struck by a vehicle travelling the wrong direction in the southbound lanes of the thruway about 15 miles south of Albany.

The Stoney Creek woman killed in the crash is identified by police as 50 year old Carol Dion.

Critically injured are 39 year old Karen Weller of Hamilton and four month old Tajaye Weller.  They've been rushed to hospital in Albany.

The wrong-way driver, a 43 year old man from Coxsackie New York, was also killed in the crash.  Police say that why he was in the wrong lanes of the thruway is unknown.
