A Hamilton Public School Board trustee is thinking outside the box.
Lillian Orban wants the board to investigate ways of keeping extracurricular activities, even if teachers decline to volunteer for them.
Orban suggests one option is to have trustees meet with the unions to try and maintain the after school activities.
Her motion comes after the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation directed its members to return to extracurricular activities following talks with the province.
But union leaders say many teachers are still upset at the government and may never resume those activities.
