A Hamilton woman who survived a deadly crash in New York state is crediting a bouncer with saving the lives of her and her four-month-old baby.

Karen Weller was driving northbound along Interstate 87 when a car driving the wrong way smashed into her last Friday.

She says Mike Curtis from Glenmont, N.Y, ran to the crash scene with a fire extinguisher and used it to put out the flames.

He then removed Weller and her four-month-old son Tajaye from the wreckage.

50-year-old Carol Dion of Stoney Creek was a passenger in Weller's car and was killed, along with the wrong-way driver.

Baby Tajaye, who suffered two broken legs and multiple skull fractures, remains in a hospital in Albany, New York.
