Burlington is again looking to naming and sponsorship rights as it tries to ease the impact of new development on the residential tax base.
The city is looking for sponsors and a name for the new recreation centre in Alton, which will open this fall in the area of Dundas Street and Walker's Line.
The list of Burlington facilities which already carry the names of community sponsors include Paletta Mansion and the Dofasco Waterjet at Spencer Smith Park. It's become an increasingly popular way of generating funds to help pay for the operation of such facilities.
Burlington taxpayers, due to a range of pressures, are facing an increase of at least 3% when the city's budget is approved later this month.
