Burlington City Council will vote to rename the promenade at Spencer Smith Park during its next meeting.
The section between the Waterfront Hotel and Discovery Landing will become the Naval Veterans Walkway.
The recognition has already received unanimous support from the community services committee and will receive final approval on March.18th.
Councillor Marianne Meed-Ward notes that there is a standing order for all Navy Ships leaving Hamilton Harbour to stop and salute Burlington's Naval Ships Memorial monument before continuing on their way.
She adds that residents she's talked to have been very supportive of the change, as a way of showing their gratitude for sacrifices made by naval vets.
