Women still earn less than men
Hamilton Spectator
3/6/2013

The Gender Gap continues in Hamilton, according to a new study from the Social Planning and Research Council.

It says all of the net full time employment in the city over the last 15 years has gone to women, yet they're still paid about 24 thousand dollars a year less than men.

Study author Sarah Mayo says it's mainly because of the rise of lower paid service sector jobs, the skills that are most associated with women.

The study also shows the majority of part time jobs are now filled by men because of the decline in the manfucturing sector.
