A guilty plea has been entered by the man accused of killing a fellow psychiatric patient at St. Joseph's Hospital.
33 year old Tyler Michael Valcheff has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the beating death of Michael Brewer.
A fight between the pair last May led to Brewer being punched and stomped by Valcheff on the soccer field at the West 5th campus.
Valcheff was a patient at St. Joseph's forensic unit since he had been found not criminally responsible for a previous crime several years ago.
The hospital has since reviewed its patient assessment and safety procedures and formed a task force with Hamilton police to combat security issues.
